Reasons for corrosion resistance of aluminum products
The reason why aluminium sheets are relatively resistant to corrosion is that it is easy to form an oxide film of aluminum oxide on its surface. This oxide film is very dense, passive and corrosion resistant, and has a protective effect on the substrate. Aluminium sheets are the general name of household and industrial products processed with aluminum alloy as the main raw material.
Aluminum, whose chemical symbol is AL, is a very active metal, ranking third in the periodic table of metal elements. It can easily react with (oxygen) in the air to generate AL2O3 (aluminum oxide). Unlike other metal oxides, AL2O3 has obvious color. It is colorless and transparent, and has no effect on the color of aluminum itself. More importantly, its surface can instantly form a protective film, wrap and seal the entire aluminum product substrate surface, and prevent the substrate from contacting with water or air (oxygen, acid, alkali), so that the substrate will not continue to oxidize. If the surface of aluminum alloy products is scratched by machining or carelessly, then AL2O3 aluminum oxide film will soon be formed on the reworked surface or wound, so that the substrate will not be subject to deep corrosion.
AL2O3 alumina
Artificial alumina ceramic: It is a ceramic material with alumina (Al2O3) as the main body, used for thick film integrated circuits. Alumina ceramics: good conductivity, corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength and high temperature resistance. Alumina ceramic is a widely used ceramic. It has been applied more and more widely in modern society.
The aluminum content in aluminum alloy is generally more than 90%, so both pure aluminum products and aluminum alloy products are very corrosion resistant. For example, high voltage wires are all aluminum wires with no need of protection on the surface. They have been erected and used for decades at high altitude, regardless of any adverse weather and marine climate. However, as a manufacturer of silicon cast aluminum heat exchanger, after the production of aluminum castings, we also need to carry out anodizing treatment on aluminum alloy castings, and the corrosion resistance of aluminum alloy castings is also stronger.
Introduction to Aluminium sheets
Aluminium sheets are the general name of household and industrial products processed with aluminum alloy as the main raw material. In addition to aluminum, aluminum products also contain copper, silicon, magnesium, zinc, manganese, nickel, iron, titanium, chromium, lithium, etc. There are many types of aluminum products, including rolled and cast materials, non-heat-treated alloys, pure aluminum alloys, aluminum-manganese alloys, aluminum-silicon alloys, aluminum-magnesium alloys, heat-treated alloys, aluminum-copper magnesium alloys, aluminum-magnesium silicon alloys, aluminum-zinc magnesium alloys, sheets, plates, coils, strips, pipes, solid bars, profiles, castings, etc. In addition, metal aluminum can also be made into cooking utensils and so on. However, due to some special reasons of aluminum, the cooking utensils of aluminum products are gradually being eliminated.
